Together with Sidi Mahmoud KABER, we led the co-organization of the first CIMPA summer school in Ghana with financial support from Centre International De Mathématiques Pures et Appliquées (CIMPA) and partly European Mathematical Society (EMS). The aim of the school was to introduce graduate students and researchers to several numerical techniques and analysis in Partial Differential Equations (PDEs). We had participants from several African countries including Mauritania, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Nigeria, etc.
The analysis and numerics of PDEs is very important field of research as it cuts across several aspects of research. However, this topic is not very popular in Ghana and several other African countries. This is reflected on the number of research articles from Africa published in the top 20 journals in Numerical Analysis and Numerical methods for PDEs.
The School was locally organized by the Mathematics Department with support from the School of Graduate Studies of the university. Read here for more >>
